Luke 2:46 (The Message)

This is what’s cool about this scene. The teachers are not afraid to engage in questions with this kid. It’s obvious from the statement that not only is Jesus asking questions, but that He is also providing some answers. At some point in your life you will find yourself afraid of a question, but the reality is there is nothing to fear with the question but with the answer. We don’t fear the question, we fear the answer. This is the reason we are afraid of people questioning God, or the bible for that matter. Let’s be honest here, none of us understands God. I don’t know why He does certain things or chooses to reveal himself in a way that, honestly, confuses me sometimes. That however, should not keep me from the search.
Do we avoid the questions then? Well, no, you encourage questions. You challenge people to question your God and to question your believes. Anyone afraid of that is only afraid of the answers they’ll find.
